Cadaveric Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair Course NSTC

Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne – Faculty Mr Alan Horgan

A one-day course focusing on lap incisional hernia repair with presentations on technique, live links to theatres and also the unique experience of hands on training using cadaveric models. Ideal for consultants or final year SPRs. Also includes 4 theatre practitioner spaces per course.

Hexham General Hospital - Faculty Mr Sadiq Bawa, Mr Liam Horgan

A one-day course giving the delegates an opportunity to assist in the surgery. Also includes a separate theatre practitioner course to promote team adoption of technique. 6 Consultant places per course. Up to 4 theatre practitioners

Lap Inguinal and Incisional Hernia Cadaver Masterclass NSTC

Freeman Hospital, Newcastle

A 1 day course focusing on TEP, TAPP and laparoscopic incisional hernia repair utilising the fresh frozen cadaver facility at the NSTC Hospital.  The course will showcase ULTRAPRO for TEP and TAPP and PROCEED for lap incisional hernia.  Aimed at Consultant Surgeons (Staff Grade & Experienced SpRs by exception).  Experience of other laparoscopic procedures essential: i.e. Gall bladders, experience of handling bowl and adhesiolysis.  Ideally experience of laparoscopic inguinal hernias.  Intra - coroporable suturing competency desirable.

London Courses

Posterior Repair of Inguinal Hernias with ULTRAPRO* Hernia System (UHS)

Northwick Park Hospital, London

This one and a half day course consists of a didactic session at 5pm on day one followed by a practical session in theatres on day 2. Delegates have an opportunity to assist in cases which are performed under general anaesthesia. Experienced consultants only. 3 places available.

Intermediate Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair Course (TAPP)

Northwick Park Hospital, London.

A one day course consisting of didactic sessions on anatomy, the case for lap inguinal hernia and overview of the technique.  Delegates also have the opportunity to assist in live cases.  Aimed at experienced laparoscopic Consultants looking to adopt TAPP inguinal hernia repair, 2 places available.  There is also an opportunity for Theatre practitioners to attend, 2 places available.

Intermediate Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Training Course (TEP)

Llandough Hospital, Cardiff, Wales.

A one day course giving an overview of technique for lap inguinal hernia repair.  It also gives delegates an opportunity to assist in surgery. Experienced Laparoscopic Consultants and Final Year registrars only.

A one-day introductory course focusing on lap incisional hernia repair with presentations in the morning describing the technique, materials used and how to create a business case followed by an afternoon in the dry and wet labs practicing the relevant skills.

Advanced European Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair Course

Venue now Prague - Faculty TBC

A one-day advanced Masterclass on Lap Incisional Hernia Repair with in depth presentations on the technique and an opportunity for delegates to bring case studies for discussion. Also features the new state of the art Simbionix Lap Mentor virtual reality Simulator. Candidates must have experience of at least 10 lap Incisional hernias and regular cases. Course filled across Europe on first come first served basis, max 20 delegates per course.

This one and a half day course consists of a didactic session at 5pm on day one followed by a practical session in theatres on day 2. Extensive dissection technique under general anaesthesia. Aimed at experienced consultants only. 7 Consultants per course, spaces filled across Europe on first come, first served basis.

This one and a half day course is facilitated by Dr Ralph Lorenz - Havel Clinik - Berlin. He is the founder of Berlin Hernia days & society - Day 1 includes presentations on innovation in materials and technique overview of UHS, PVP and UPP. Day 2 features hands on experience in 6-8 cases utilising UHS/UPP/PVP. Maximum 5 delegate places per course.
